Chubb offers domestic and international travel insurance for Malaysian residents, with a variety of different packages and service levels. The service is underwritten by Chubb Insurance Malaysia Berhad, which is overseen by Bank Negara Malaysia.
This Chubb travel insurance review walks through some of the options available if you’re interested in taking a Chubb travel insurance policy for your leisure or business travel. Be sure to read through any policy documents you’re provided with carefully before you sign up, as different policies do have their own important considerations.
To buy travel insurance you’ll need to meet certain criteria. Some of these eligibility rules depend on the policy you select - others are more general. To see the specific rules and exclusions for your preferred policy, you’ll need to view the Chubb insurance brochure3, or the specific product disclosure sheet for the policy.
Here’s an overview of some common eligibility rules which apply to most Chubb Malaysia travel insurance policies:
- You must be a Malaysian citizen, or Permanent Resident, or you must be legally residing in Malaysia in some other way - for example with an Employment Pass or Student Pass
- Individual cover is available on an annual basis for people from 18 to 70, with renewals possible up to age 80
- Individual domestic cover is available on a single trip basis for people from from 30 days old to 80 years
- Individual international cover is available on a single trip basis for people from from 30 days old with no upper age limit
Chubb travel insurance comes in 4 different package types:
There are further variations within these packages. For international cover you’ll have to specify where in the world you’re travelling to. Plus you can choose to insure one or more people under the same policy, and pick either a single trip policy or annual cover depending on your preferences and needs.

Chubb travel insurance is split into 2 package types - First and Executive, and then offered on either a domestic or international basis. You can also pick different destination zones, and different combinations of insured people, such as individual, or family. The cover levels can be quite different depending on the package you pick.
Here we’ve included some highlights, but there may be other coverage included in your package - and conversely, other limits may apply to the sort of claim you can make. You’ll need to go through your plan details carefully to see all of the relevant rules for your specific package.
Firstly let’s look at the Chubb travel insurance cover that is based around medical or emergency use. We’ll also split out some of the travel and lifestyle cover you can get later. As we’ve said, other rules can apply and each policy is tailored to the individual’s need - so do read your policy documents carefully before you sign up.
