How to get your THB transfer marked as an International Transfer by the recipient bank
You'll need to request a Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer from the beneficiary bank, which is the party that issues the letter. This letter includes the details of your international transfer and can be issued for all purpose codes.
As of 2017, Foreign Exchange Transaction (FET) forms have been discontinued.
Why can’t Wise give me a Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer?
We aren't authorised by the Bank of Thailand to issue a Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer. This is due to how we operate: when you send money with us, we use our Thai banking partners to send your money locally. It doesn’t cross any borders, so it doesn’t register as a foreign transaction.
How can I get a Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer?
The recipient needs to ask the beneficiary bank to issue the Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer. You can double-check which bank this is by checking your transfer receipt. To find it:
Go to the transfer in the Activity section of your Wise account
Click View transfer details
Click Download PDF receipt
Go to the second page to find banking partner details
After identifying the recipient bank, you can contact them to request a Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer.
Transfers sent to Bangkok Bank
If the transfer was sent to Bangkok Bank, contact the Bangkok Bank Head Office branch via their call centre during banking hours.
Documents needed by Bangkok Bank:
Passport of the recipient
Evidence of transferring funds with Wise
Savings passbook or account statement showing the international funds transfer transaction
Credit Advice Receipt from the bank (if any)
If the purpose of the funds transfer is to buy property in Thailand: Sales Purchase Agreement for the condominium in Thailand
Once Bangkok Bank has reviewed these documents, they’ll issue a Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer to the recipient. This letter can then be used to prove that the money came from abroad.
Note that Bangkok Bank may charge an administration fee.
Transfers sent to Kasikorn Bank
If the transfer was sent to Kasikorn Bank, the recipient needs to visit their nearest Kasikorn Bank International Trade Centre. They’ll need to bring:
Their Bank Savings Passbook or a statement showing the transaction
Their passport
Their visa (if applicable)
Note that Kasikorn Bank may charge an administration fee.
Transfers sent to Siam Commercial Bank
If the transfer was sent to Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), the recipient needs to contact SCB via their call center and provide the following information:
Recipient details
Date and time of the transaction requiring the Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer
SCB will verify the recipient during the call, and the letter will be sent to the verified email address associated with their SCB account.
It may take up to three working days to receive the letter.
Note that SCB currently does not charge for this request.
Transfers sent to all other supported recipient banks
If the transfer was sent to any of our other supported recipient banks (please refer to the section above), please contact the bank directly to check which documents are required to obtain the Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer.
Note that charges may apply depending on the bank.
Swift transfers
Sometimes, we might send your transfer through a different banking partner who can’t provide a Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer. This might be because of a technical issue, or some other unforeseen event.
If you know you definitely need a Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer, it’s best that you send a Swift transfer with your bank this time. Swift is a more expensive method, because it’s not a local transfer. But it does mean you’ll be able to prove that the money came from abroad.
